About Piaget

Piaget states that the house was founded by Georges-Édouard Piaget in 1874 in La Côte-aux-Fées. Its history page says he set up his first workshop on the family farm at age 19 and began by making movements. The same history page says Piaget opened a new Atelier in Plan-les-Ouates in 2001.

Piaget documents several milestones in ultra-thin watchmaking. Its site says the hand-wound 9P caliber launched in 1957 and the self-winding 12P followed in 1960. The ultra-thin movements page also says Piaget developed more than 25 ultra-thin movements, and it identifies caliber 1208P as holding a double record at 2.35 mm for the self-winding mechanical movement and 5.25 mm for the watch in its category.

Watch collections shown on the site include Altiplano, Piaget Polo, Limelight Gala, Possession, Andy Warhol, and Sixtie. Piaget says the Altiplano line was born in 1957 from the 9P caliber. Its history page says the Piaget Polo watch was introduced in 1979.

Piaget says it has manufactures in Plan-les-Ouates and La Côte-aux-Fées, with Plan-les-Ouates in Geneva and La Côte-aux-Fées presented as the place where its story began. The site also uses the name Ateliers de l'Extraordinaire for its integrated manufacture. Piaget's history and manufacture pages describe a dual presence linking Plan-les-Ouates and La Côte-aux-Fées.
