About Gucci

Gucci was founded in Florence in 1921 by Guccio Gucci. On the brand’s history page, Gucci says Guccio Gucci was inspired by his experience at London’s Savoy Hotel and opened his first boutique on Via della Vigna Nuova in Florence. The same history page says the house developed from a single Florentine shop into an international brand over the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

On its own watch materials, Gucci documents several specific milestones. A Gucci Stories page says the house celebrated 50 years of Gucci Swiss Timepieces at an event in Geneva and notes that Gucci Swiss Timepieces were first introduced in 1972 in La Chaux-de-Fonds. A Gucci 25H brochure says the collection marked a milestone in Gucci’s history with the first caliber signed Gucci in 2021, the self-winding GG727.25.A.

Gucci’s watch pages also document collections such as G-Timeless, Gucci 25H, and Gucci Dive. The U.S. watches category page says Gucci watches include G-Timeless, Gucci 25H, and Gucci Dive, and it also lists lines such as Diamantissima, G-Chrono, G-Flat, and Gucci Interlocking. Gucci’s instructions for use for Gucci Dive state that watches in the collection are water resistant to 300 meters and meet ISO 6425 and NIHS 92-11 standards for diver watches.

Today, Gucci’s corporate information page lists Guccio Gucci S.p.A. at Via Tornabuoni 73/r, 50123 Florence, Italy. That page also states that the company is subject to the management and coordination of Kering Holland NV. Gucci’s site also identifies Via de' Tornabuoni 73r in Florence as the address of its Firenze flagship.
