About Gevril

Gevril traces its history on its site to Jacques Gevril. The site says he created his first chronometer in 1742 and was named watchmaker to the king of Spain in 1758. Gevril’s history pages also list later milestones including a watch signed “Gevril a' Geneve” in 1800, a watchmaking school founded in Le Locle in 1827, and the brand’s acquisition by Swiss watchmaker Samuel Friedmann in 2002.

The site says Gevril patented an unlocked crown indicator in 1994. It also says Dr. Phillipe Roland Carrera of Peseux, Switzerland recorded the brand’s history in a book titled Gevril that year. The same timeline says Gevril introduced the Sea Cloud, Lafayette, and Avenue of Americas collections in 2001.

Collections shown on the site include Gevril lines such as Gramercy, Avenues of America, Seacloud, Avenue of Americas Mini, Ascari, Chambers, Hudson Yards, Canal Street, and Empire.
