On the Santos de Cartier pages, Cartier says that in 1904 Louis Cartier created the watch for Alberto Santos-Dumont so he could tell time while flying, describing it there as one of the first ever wristwatches. The site also says the 1847 MC automatic movement takes its name from the year the Maison was founded. Cartier’s movements page says its calibers are tested and approved in its laboratory for precision, rate stability, and resistance to shocks, magnetic fields, and mechanical aging.

Cartier’s Tank material also identifies lines such as Tank Louis Cartier, Tank Américaine, Tank Française, and Tank Must. On the Santos page, Cartier says the model is equipped with the 1847 MC automatic caliber and cites water resistance up to 10 bar, chronometric precision, and protection against everyday magnetism up to 1500 gauss.
